with several different angles... along with fox5's peter dawson... he had the best point of view.. on the roof of the marriot... and joins us live with more. the second and final implosion of the riviera is in the books. 60 years of vegas history is now ruble. last june the monaco tower was imploded. the lvcva threw a huge party and thousands came out to see the iconic high rise come tumbling down. last night's implosion of the monte carlo tower didn't have as much fan fare. many attended with mix emotions seeing yet another piece of our history fall to ever-expanding growth. those who did attend got to say arrivederci riviera. (sound of building implosion) the lvcva is expanding the convention

to the strip. the $1.4 billion project will have several phases and take many years to complete. the goal of the lvcva is to remain the top convention destination in north america, a title they've held for 22 straight years. people has mixed emotions seeing the riviera come tumbling down. i love how they didnt do any fanfare or coiunt down of anything. they just did it at 2:30 and they went. riviera is a pile of rubble. the las vegas convention and visitors authority is ready to clear it all away to make way for its convention center expansion. "we've been #1 convention city for 22 years we want to continue to do that so our convention center has to live up to what people expect in las vegas." the l-v-c-v-a hopes the 42-million dollar makeover will keep existing clients coming and bring in some new ones. the site clearing project is expected to wrap up early next spring. the l-v-c-v-a says it is working with the neon museum and local collectors to preserve the most iconic parts including signs and other pieces of the property. les krifaton joins us now with a quick look at the fox 5 weather 24-7 forecast. temperatures are

is left in shambles after a truck slammed into the eatery. henderson police say the driver may have suffered a medical episode. it happened monday afternoon at bratalian restaurant on eastern near horizon ridge parkway. chef carla pellegrino posted these images to facebook. police say the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. chef pellegrino says she isn't sure when the restaurant will reopen due to the

a tight-knit henderson community sends thieves a powerful message. don't steal from us... or we'll catch you! "were tight, you know we look out for one another, i did post it because i knew some friends in the neighborhood and immediately" it all started monday morning after a man was captured on home surveillance video, stealing a pair of cleats from david gallegos' home. as soon as he posted the video the neighborhood watch banded together to catch the thief... because they knew exactly who they were looking for. within hours they say they cracked the case and police came and arrested the suspect. neighbors say they hope this sends out a message to other potential thiefs to stay away from their homes. petty theft is a misdemeanor in nevada and can cost you up to a thousand dollars in fines. burglary and other kinds of crimes can land you in even more trouble. if you're looking for a freebie this tuesday -- you might want to hit up one of the two shake shack locations in town. the chain will be giving away free

are dead following devastating flooding in the deep south. the rains haven't let up since friday and thousands of people have lost everything. more than 20- thousand people have been rescued from their homes in baton rouge, louisiana so far. this morning, 11- thousand people are waking up in shelters. more flooding could be on the way as the water moves downstream throughout the state. red cross volunteers from las vegas are headed to louisiana today to assist in the recovery efforts. breaking his silence about guitarist joe perry's health scare last month. perry was hospitalized after collapsing on stage during a hollywood vampires show in new york. cooper says perry was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion and was pushing himself too hard. he adds that perry hadn't eaten in two days. the band was performing its eighth show in nine days when perry collapsed. perry rejoined the tour after his recovery. long before the most decorated olympian of all- time had 28 olympic medals

"it is my pleasure to announce the arrest of damin anthony pashilk, age 40, of cl (applause) damin pashilk is now facing 17 counts in connection to several fires over the past year... including this one in california. thousands of people have been forced to evacuate because of the fire... and california's governor has declared a state of emergency..as officials work to contain the out of control blaze. "i'm devastated. i have to go tell my parents that they've lost everything."

a seven year old boy tried to sell his stuffed animal... and the reason why is heartbreaking... he needed money for food. that's where a police officer st "it broke my heart." "he told me that he was trying to sell his stuffed animal to get money for food because he hadn't eaten in several days." officer steve dunham spotted the boy in front of a pharmacy. dunham took the boy to a fast food restaurant and the two had dinner together. the officer said when he went to the boy's home... he found deplorable conditions... along with four other boys. "they treated him like his own kids.

following devastating flooding in the deep south. the rains haven't let up since friday and thousands of people have lost everything. more than 20- thousand people have been rescued from their homes in baton rouge, louisiana so far. this morning, 11- thousand people are waking up in shelters. more flooding could be on the way as the water moves downstream throughout the state. red cross volunteers from las vegas are headed to louisiana today to assist in the recovery efforts.
